Ukraine Marches Farther Into Liberated Lands Separatist Calls Urgent Referendum

Russia holds votes in occupied parts of Ukraine; Kyiv says residents coerced

In Sevastopol, Crimea, on September 23, 2022, a woman casts her vote on the first day of a referendum on the annexation of Ukrainian regions under Russian control to Russia. Voting is held for citizens of the self-declared Donetsk (DPR) and Luhansk People's Republics (LPR), as well as the portions of the Ukrainian regions of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia that are under Russian control.
